CASEY HUT OPENING

Department of Conservation’s (DoC) Casey Hut has been re-built and is back up and running after the original burned down five years ago. We are always honoured to work together with DoC, designing back-country huts in the most beautiful environments New Zealand has to offer.

Located within Arthur’s Pass National Park overlooking the Poulter River, Casey Hut is popular for trampers and mountain bikers.

The re-build was possible because of the generous donations from Dr. Sharon English and Robert Birks. “Donating funds to rebuild this hut is a way of expressing my gratitude to the system that has put it all in place” says Birks.

Officially opening on Saturday, 22 August, the new facilities include 12-bunks, fire place, double glazing, insulation and innovative solar lighting.

The really exciting thing about the new Casey Hut is it gives us an opportunity to connect people with the nature that we all identify with.
