Pynenburg & Collins Architects was established in 1981 by university friends, Ron Pynenburg and Ken Collins. We’re now one of New Zealand’s leading architectural practices, operating both the PCA brand in the residential, community and commercial sectors and the Lab-Works Architecture brand - as award winning specialist laboratory architects. This combination gives our team varied work experience that is unique to Aotearoa. And we’re proud to say that over 50% of our team are women (which is rare for the construction industry).

On Fridays in our Wellington office, we host sharing sessions across our professional projects, personal design styles, and of course, highlights from our recent holidays ‘architectural tours’ to exotic locations. We enjoy socialising and host regular team dinners. And when you join the team, you’ll get a yearly ‘Day for You’ - where you can spend it however you’d like to remind you of why you entered the architectural profession. Along with our yearly community day, which last year involved planting trees and cutting gorse in the Remutaka Forest Park.

As an architectural graduate you will ideally have about 4 years of experience, as you’ll provide support to senior architectural staff in the preparation of design drawings and construction documentation. You will be an integral member of our design team and will work closely with others in the office. We are more than happy to support you in gaining experience as you work towards registration. 

You’ll need to be able to demonstrate the following:

  • a relevant tertiary qualification

  • strong design skills

  • an ability to communicate well with a variety of people

  • innovative thinking

  • an ability to work well as part of a team

  • a sense of humour and

  • pride in your work.
